Crayford Marshes

Thames-side grazing marshes where the Cray and Darent meet.

Crayford Marshes are the low-lying grazing marshes to the north of the town, where the River Cray and River Darent meet before flowing into the Thames. This open, flat landscape sits on the very edge of Greater London, bordering the Dartford Marshes across the county boundary.

## Wildlife and Walking

The marshes form part of a wider network of Thames-side grazing marsh valued for birdlife and open-country walking. Footpaths and the Thames Path give access to a landscape that feels remote despite being close to the built-up town.

## Industrial Edge

Historically the marshes and the land beside the Cray supported industry, and parts of the area remain in industrial and logistics use today, sitting alongside the open marshland.
