The London Borough of Bexley runs one of its two household reuse and recycling centres on Thames Road in Crayford. It is the main tipping point for residents in the north of the borough.

Opening times and access

The Thames Road Reuse and Recycling Centre (DA1 5QJ) is open seven days a week from 7:30am to 4pm, closing only on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. The site is vehicle-access only — there is no pedestrian entrance.

Who can use it

The centre is for Bexley residents only. On arrival you must show proof that you live in the borough: a valid driving licence or a Council Tax bill. Residents with paperless Council Tax can show the original confirmation email from the council on a phone.

Vans and large loads

Vans are not permitted at the recycling centre. Instead, van users must use the adjacent Thames Road Waste Transfer Station, which operates a reduced annual allowance for van and trailer loads. Twin-axle trailers are not accepted at the recycling centre.

The alternative site

Bexley's second centre is at Maidstone Road, Foots Cray (DA14 5HS), which is open the same hours but closed on Wednesdays. It allows both vehicle and on-foot access.
