Crayford Recycling Centre: Thames Road Opening Times & What You Can Tip
A practical guide to using Bexley's Thames Road Reuse and Recycling Centre in Crayford — opening times, ID rules, and van restrictions.
Crayford is home to one of the London Borough of Bexley's two household reuse and recycling centres, on Thames Road to the north of the town. Here is what you need to know before you go.
Where it is
The Thames Road Reuse and Recycling Centre is on Thames Road, Crayford, DA1 5QJ, on the industrial land between the town centre and the marshes.
Opening times
The centre is open seven days a week, 7:30am to 4pm. It closes only on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
What to bring
The site is for Bexley residents only, and you must prove it. Bring a valid driving licence or a Council Tax bill in your name. If you have paperless Council Tax, show the original confirmation email from Bexley Council on your phone. Out-of-borough residents are turned away.
Access and vehicles
Thames Road is vehicle access only — there is no pedestrian entrance. Cars with standard seating and windows are fine, and trailers up to one metre are allowed. Twin-axle trailers are not accepted.
Vans
Vans cannot use the recycling centre. Van users must instead use the adjacent Thames Road Waste Transfer Station, which carries a reduced annual allowance for van and trailer loads.
The other Bexley centre
If Thames Road is busy, Bexley's second site is at Maidstone Road, Foots Cray (DA14 5HS). It keeps the same 7:30am–4pm hours but is closed on Wednesdays, and it allows both vehicle and on-foot access.
